Yes. Yes they are.
How do I know? Well, in general kids are pretty darn cool. It may seem like they have it made with far fewer real world responsibilities than parents, but let's not forget that they also face the tremendous task of growing up. On a daily basis, kids have to keep pace with the ever-changing demands of their environment. Expectations ramp up quickly and just as one box is checked, five more appear. Think about it—walk then run, write your name now write an essay, play patty cake now navigate the lunchroom's social scene. I know that none of this happens overnight and there are many baby steps to be taken in between, but kids are often well aware of the fact that their journey requires relatively constant forward momentum. Sometimes there are major successes, and sometimes it's just about making it through until bedtime to hit the pillow and start over again tomorrow. Either way, your child is awesome simply for being on this journey and doing their best to meet the challenges of each day. Beyond that though, I know that your child has a brand of awesomeness that's all their own. A quirky sense of humor, an uncanny ability to offer a hug when it's needed most, or a huge heart that you can see bursting with compassion and joy. Maybe it's a mispronunciation of a word that always leaves your family in stitches, an unsolicited helping hand, or just the way they sound when you hear them singing like no one is listening. So, what makes your child the coolest, funniest, most amazing person you know? Let's see how many comments we can rack up to prove the point that kids are awesome! Comment below and share the most amazing thing about your child. Then, dish out some random parental admiration and make a point to tell your son or daughter just how cool you really think they are.
